safe way to remove white lettering on hoosier qtp?

safe way to remove white lettering on hoosier qtp?

anyone know of a good safe way to get rid of the white paint on the side of hoosier tires? my qtp's are used on the street- but i dont like driving around looking like racer-x.

that's what i was going to resort to if i couldn't find any way of getting the white off. there are several things that i know would take it off- but i am thinking it would have ill effects on the rubber.

Acetone will take paint off just about anything but I don't know what affect it will have on rubber. Probably nothing.

As long as it’s actually paint on a raised surface instead of a layer of white rubber like a white wall or RWL tire then you can use a sanding flap wheel on an angle grinder. I’ve done that to remove rub marks from tires that I got from someone that had them hitting the wheel well and even remove the “this side out” on a set of tires that I found tracked better on the car mounted inside out (didn’t want any hassles during tech inspection). If you have just the right touch and leave a smooth surface within a week or so of them being outside in the sun you can’t even tell that anything was done.

i will have to check to see what it is- i know it's paint of some sort- but i dont know if the entire letter is raised or just the outside. although- i do have one of those wheels that's more or less worn out- maybe that would have just enough left to take it off- but not grind into the rubber- thanks for the tip
