Tire Review

I thought about posting this in the aftermarket board, but thought it would fit better here. I recently purchased a set of tires for my car. I got the Continental Contiextreme Contacts. Size 245/50/16. At 95 bucks per tire I thought it wasnt too bad. I did a lot of reading to see what other people with similar cars thought about them. Turns out it was a wise choice. I had a right front brake lock problem in all conditions, now gone. Straightline traction is much improved and wet traction is out of sight. Road noise is minimal, not that there is much getting past the exhaust note. I"m waiting for snow now...we'll see how that goes I suppose I should get some sandbags! Cornering is great...response is very ideal for having all that new tread. A great buy!

I too was looking at those.

I need something with good mileage/treadwear, kinda comfortable, half decent in the rain, and at least drivable in the snow once or twice (gotta take my kids to where the snow starts in the mountains a couple times every winter, it's only natural ya know) but I REALLY WANT some good performance and handling.

Seems these don't go too well together though.

My current tires (Bridgestone Touresna's) that came on the car are basically nothing in the rain. No traction whatsoever, and downright SCARY AS ALL HELL when you hit a small puddle (hydroplane). I would never take a car into the snow with these, regardless of the fact I never go far into it and I go to snowparks with the kids so the roads are sanded and salted pretty well. (they're used to city folks coming in with some crappy snow tires/vehicles and wrecking all over the place, so they keep it pretty nice on the ways to snowparks, lol)

I might have to try these out...

Might want to check out the Pirelli P Nero M&S tires. They are supposed to be better than the Conti's. Infact they are supposed to be among the best.

I'll let you know how they are. My brothers gonna get a set for his manual tranny Lincoln LS sport.

They are better, but they are also 3x the price

that's why I got the Conti's...after reading lots...and I mean lots of reviews I found that the pirellis only offered a marginally better amount of performance for the dollar over the conti's. The track results were great for the pirelli's though. However, how often am I on the track? So far I have put over 1200 miles on the contis...no sign of wear yet, wet traction is great....especially the cornering predictability and the braking in the wet which went from non-existant to more than acceptable. Very little road noise...and they are still pretty responsive....I'm confident that they'll be good inthe snow.

Fuzion. I was told they were made by Bridgestone. They look great, are Z rated, and are reasonablly priced - for what your buying. Remember, it's always worth it to spend a "little" more, especially with tires, they're all that's between your car and the road.

i just bought a set of Fuzion ZRi's for the front of my ride. i work at a shop where we stock bridgestone products so i got 'em for cheaper. so far they are great tires. when my rear kumhos go out they'll be replaced by another set of Fuzions.
