Wheel question

How do you measure your backspacing and bolt pattern spacing for aftermarket wheels? I want to buy a set of American Racing Torq Thrust IIs for my 'Bird, but am not sure which ones will fit. I definitely want 15x7, though.

Andris Skulte has a great FAQ on wheel backspacing and offset, includes methods to measure. Check it out at www.skulte.com

What size 15 inch tire looks best on a 3rd gen as far as width and profile?

First off i would go with the 8 inch wide rims if posible. 7's just arent wide enough to get any kind of traction. my 305 tbi has no problems lighting up 215/65 R15. I wish these tires looked a little wider thou. Maybe something in the 235/ 55or 45 range is what i would prefer on my 7 inchers. Also note that those tire sizes dont match factory so id run into speedo issues with them.

you measure backspacing by laying the rim face down. getting a measuring stick and a straight edge. lay the straight edge on the back rim lip. and take your ruler and place it in the center and measure your backspacing. and you measure your bolt pattern by measuring your stud lenth in a star pattern(if that makes sense)the same way you tighten down lug nuts.
