i replaced my strut mounts today and everything was easy until i tried to put the plastic caps back on the strut mounts. am i missing something or are they just a pain?

do they have to be on?

do they have a name so i can try to get new ones? i trashed the old ones trying to get them back on.

i never was able to fit my originals back on the replacements, they didnt fit. i would be interested as well if anyone has this answer...

 

I was able to put mine back on the Moog replacements I got from Spohn. They are somewhat of a pain. If it helps, my original caps are from the 92 RS. I know the bolt pattern is different on the mounts between 82-86 years and 87-92 years, it's possible the caps are different, too. The Moog replacements emulate the 87-92 style.

 

ahhhhhhhhh, i wonder if that is it... gee i never thought of that, even though i did get the 87 style bottom piece. that could quite possibly be the case. guess i'll put it on my junkyard list... thanks for the idea CaysE.
