just curious...4th gen VS 3rd gen chassis...

im just curious if anyone know if the 4th gen chassis structure is sturdier/stronger than a 3rd gen chassis? are the frame rails any bigger or use any thicker of material? any more reinforcements in a 4th gen over a 3rd? thanks a lot, just a friend of mine seems to think the 4th gens frames are waayy stronger?

On my 4thgen there are more body panels that are plastic, i.e., everything in front of the doors is plastic except the hood and alot the rear deck is plastic as well. Someone on this board once mentioned that 4thgen was heavier than the 3rdgen. If that is true than all I can figure is that there is more weight in the frame. I hope we can get more responses on this subject, I am interested as well.

A lot of the weight comes from the heavier interior and sound deadening stuff. I'm not quite sure how much lighter the plastic panels are either though. Sheet metal panels are fairly light. I'd bet the plastic panels was more for ease of molding and no rusting.
