wonder bar ?

will a g.m IROC wonder bar fit my 89 t/a? picture I have looks like one end goes to the frame on the passenger side and the other looks as if would go onto the top of the steering box is this true? and do I have to buy any lengthened bolts to accomplish the task or is there a kit?

There are many after market "Wonderbars." All are a direct bolt-in. Here's the Global West version.

The Global West p/n is TS-14. Check the following web site:

http://www.globalwestsuspension.com/

As you may be able to see in the above pic, the steering box brace slides under the front sway bar tying the front end together.

on a related note, the installation of the wonderbar looks and appears to be relatively simple...is it something a relatively ameture person could do?...I've installed LCA and a panhard rod, but nothing much more complicated than that?...is it just a basic bolt on?

if you have done LCAs and a PHB you can EASILY do this. just loosen the sway bushings and tehn drop the sway, pop it under , and then start putting things back together.

wonder bar

You guys are too much, thanks a lot If I ever need anything I know where to go. Just bought one from TDS for $64.94 to my door can't wait till summer. Are those grease fittings on the bottom clamp of the sway bar in the picture above?

Yes. It is more than just a grease fitting though. There is also a groove cut into the ID of the bushing for grease to flow around the sway bar. The greasable front sway bar bushing kit is available from my web site under the Chassis & Suspension category.

of all the wonderbars i have seen in person or in photos, the TDS is the only one to have the bracket wrap around the end of the rod. also one of the few to have three mount points, as aposed to two on the stock unit and other aftermarket ones i have seen. looks trick too. i advise going with the red one. i got the black one. regret it every time i am under the car.

The red one is nice, and the extra mounting holes are a plus. Took like ten minutes to install...

I got a Spohn one , might be an early version. It would not fit my 88IROC, hit the dual fans. Was on a 86 Firebird (single fan), no issues.

No problems with the Global West version and dual fans.

GW here also

I did have problems with a GW unit hitting the lower radiator hose on the stock V6 radiator. It was a very tight fit and caused a tight bend in the hose. Every application is different.

Now same car, GW unit still on there, Becool Aluminum radiator and everything has plenty of room due to the better routings of the BeCool

Nothing looks dumber than one aftermarket bright red bar when the rest of the suspension is stock and rusted. Either do it all red or don't do it at all.

Jezzz... Chrome it, polish it, or paint it black. Colors under a car look like crap unless its a $300,000 showcar with the entire undercarraige painted to match the body.

Anybody that knows what to look for will see anything you have even if it is painted black. Those that don't won't be looking under your car anyways.

ps- I happen to be the head judge of one the most prestigious carshows and exibit in So Calif. Trust me. I know what people laugh at.

The stock one or the aftermarket ones is better than no wonder bar! Between the two it wouldn't matter. Wonder bars rule!!! Prevents the crack!!!
