shocks in rear causing crappy handling???

first of all on my 91 r/s 3.1 camaro do i have shock or struts in the back.,they appear to be just shocks.,.,???
Any way when i go over a speed bump slow the rear just drops like the shocks are warn out,.,.So assuming they are! when i install new ones will it make the rear any higher then it sits now??

Secondly and most importantly! ive noticed crappy handeling while im driveing.,like the rear wants to drift side to side or is just slopy,.will replacing the rear shock's/struts fix this problem im having?????
Thanks in advace to all who help!

It's the springs which dictate the ride height, however the shocks may contribute a very tiny amount by wanting to uncompress (don't know if you've noticed that some new shocks come with a strap on them in the packaging - remove the strap and the shock slowly uncompresses).

Should be shocks on the rear, and yes, if the shocks are worn out you'll have very little/no damping on the rear and hence poor handling. At least replacing the shocks will eliminate a possible cause of the handling problem.
