18" wheel question

18" wheel question

does anyone know if i can put a 18x9.5 with a 53mm offset on a 91 camaro?? how much will the wheels stick out from the fender? right now it has the stock 16" rs wheels and they got to go....

When I did mine I just told them the backspacing, not the offset. I went with 5.5" backspacing for the 9.5" wide, but be aware thats not the only backspacing that will fit, thats just what I went with.

unfortunally i cant spec the backspacing, thats how the wheel comes..

you will need adapters. check out skultes web page. probably around a 2" or slightly less adapter. 9.5 is a pretty wide tire up front, be sure your running a skinny strut like kyb, koni, ect and not a bilstein. also tire choice will play a big part.

remember that unless your racing and need the width the wider the wheel the heavier it will be slowing your car down. also the wider the front wheel the more it will track on your street, this will wear out your front end pieces more quickly and put a strain on your steering box.

8-8.5 up front really works best and anything from a 8-10.5 works good in the rear with the right offset/backspacing for a "street" car.
