Roll bar/cage ?

Does anyone have info on Autopower bolt in Roll bars or cages?

I have an '89 TTA we are going to use for Standing 1 mile events and I need a bolt in bar minimum and will need to go to a cage eventually.

Thanks for your help.

Even NHRA allows a "bolt-in" roll bar. The plates on the floor that the tubes are welded to are bolted with at least four 3/8" bolts each to a plate under the floor.

Trouble is there is no real flat area on top or under the floor where such a setup would work.

You're better off just having the top plates welded to the sheetmetal. Then when you decide to upgrade to a full cage, it will still be legal with any sanctioning body.

You can install swing out door bars to make getting in and out of the car easier.

Just checked that link. None of those roll bars or cages are considered NHRA or IHRA legal. For the price you're going to pay, I'd suggest buying a bar/cage that's legal in all sanctioning bodies. Check with your sanctioning body first before buying a cage that you can't use.

The cost a a bar/cage is cheap. The cost of installation is expensive. Normally it's around $100 - $150 per point. All kits normally require some fabrication and welding. You can't install a bar/cage if it's been prewelded.

I installed an 8 point rollbar in my car, but it was a competition engineering name brand.

The plates needed to be heated and formed to the floor then welded in.

Here's a link to some photos if you are interested:
