Eibach Spring Question.........

hey Guys, I am looking into getting some Eibach springs for the car. I have a 1989 GTA ZZ4, etc. I was looking at two different kits they have. One is a Pro kit, and it is a one inch lower in back and one inch lower in front. The other kit is a Sport line kit which is a 1.6 inch lower in the front, and a 1.3 lower in the back. The prices are about the same. What is the best kit to go with? I want the car to look real good, but I do not want problems (alignment etc). Will the sportline kit be to low and cause me any problems?? Is the Prokit with a one inch drop enough to make the car look good, or will I not really notice the 1 inch drop? I do not know much about this and really could use the help/advice. Thanks in advance.

If your current springs are original and have seen a lot of miles then it's possible that the Pro-kit may not give any visible drop. The Sport-lines should definitely lower the car to where it is visibly noticeable. Either way, you will definitely need an alignment but it shouldn't be anything unmanageable by a good alignment shop. Also, you have to determine how low is too low for yourself. No one knows better than you what your driving conditions are.

Thanks Soulbounder, the springs on the car right now are stock AC Delco springs. They are pretty new (about 15000 miles). But I do want a noticeable "dropped look". The sportlines sound good, I just didn't want any tire rub problems. Alignment isn't a problem since I need to get new tires. After I get the springs put in i will get the tires and an alignment. As far as my driving conditions go, I am always real careful over speed bumps etc. What shoud I expect as far as ride from a sportline lowering spring?? I never had a car that was lowered. Do you think that If I go with one size bigger than stock size on my tires such as a 250x16, I will have any rub or any problems on turning etc? Thanks man!

darn it I typed out a large message and lost it all, grrr..

sounds like you want the sportline kit. It will give you a noticable drop and it will make your car look as though it is lowered. The prokit you will notice a difference when driving but you may not visually. You can run stock or slightly larger tires with the lowering springs without problems and it hardly affected my alignment (although I had an alignment done immediatly)

It sounds as though your careful around bumps so you should be fine. You will notice a improvment in cornering etc and it doesn't give you a harsh ride like cut/chopped springs do.

I run a 275/40/17 tire out back and a 245/45/17 up front with the sportlines and no rubbing. You will need an adjustable panhard rod to assure proper rear end allignment.

Thanks Shiftycapone, I already have an adjustable panhard, so I am good there. I am just looking to go like one size wider than the stock size tire, so I should be ok. Thanks!

I not saying this isn't true but I installed the Prokit on my 170,000 mile IROC and it still dropped.Also installed Blistein shocks for lowered cars.

If you can, put them in and wait a little while before getting it aligned. The springs will settle a little after they have weight sitting on them.
