Cost Effective Brake Solution
Cost Effective Brake Solution
Do you guys have any tips for improving braking without breaking the bank (haha a pun), other than getting stickier tires and higher performance pads.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Depends on how much braking power you need. If its just a street car then the stockers should be alright assuming they are working properly. Have you serviced them recently? A bad caliper or frozen caliper carrier can ruin the performance of the stock brakes. If your stockers are working great and you need more braking power on a budget (for maybe track use or extreme street use hehe) then consider some of the factory upgrades some of the members here on TGO are experimenting with. You can put older C4 HD fronts, new LS1 Camaro fronts, new C5 fronts, even replicas of the 1LE setup. Rears also have some options, one of which is the LS1. Depending on how you do it one of these newer setups could be had for pretty cheap.
Hmmm, so do the LS1 fronts/rears bolt on easily?
Are they substantially stronger?
I mean, I don't want to just get a bigger rotor but the same size caliper, I'd want to upgrade the caliper size as well to increase the pad contact patch, and if possible have more pistons - are they multi-piston calipers?
Goal is going to be street use/weekend autocross/occassional track use as Summit Point, so I'm really more concerned with fade prevention and solid response/feel . . . . but that's mainly in the pad selection.
