Spohn/Hawks K-Member

I emailed Hawks yesterday about my K-member that I have been waiting on since early November and got an interesting response.

My Email to Hawks:
" Just wondering how much longer it will be before the K-Member arrives or is sent. Also rumor has it spohn is making them for you. this wont be the NEW Spohn K-member he is suppose to have out in the next few weeks is it?"

Hawks Response:
Hi,
Yes it will be a spohn unit I should have the k-member to test fit the first week of January then you should have yours a week or two after if you have anyquestions feel free to call me.
Thanks,
Bruce Hawkins

Did Hawk's contact you first to at least let you know the delay or what was going on or did they respond only because you emailed them? I planned on doing business with these guys in the future due to the good things I've heard about them.

So I guess you are okay with extended time frame right since you'll be getting Spohn's K-Member right?

Well, Actually I have been pulling my hair out over this part. Its holding up my entire project. I wish i would have just did the custom mounts in November but now since i have waited so long i figure i might as well keep waiting. One of Two things will happen. It will finally be shipped or the competition will have one out and i can just order from them. As far as Hawks goes, they have not contacted me once to notify me of the delays. Dont get me wrong,I think they are a great company and do alot for our hobby and will be buying there headers as well but here is a break down on the K-member Issue.

11/1 Ordered (knew it would be a few weeks and was OK with this)
11/14 Emailed them for a status and was told First of December.( still OK with this)
12/3 Called them hoping for a tracking # was told it would be another 3 weeks. (Getting Agravated)
12/23 Emailed them again hoping for a tracking # and was told first couple of weeks in January. (Generally Pissed Off now but have no choice but to wait)

well i dont think its much hawks fault, because all he's doing is telling you what spohn has told him. Spohn makes a good product but they're pretty bad on getting a release date set.

As for AJE i dont think they have it on there website, pretty sure you have to call about it.

LS1

We do offer a k-member for the 82-92 Camaro to put a LS1 in it. We also have them for the 4th Gen Camaro, 79-06 Mustang, and the 62-67 Chevy II.

The Hawks and PA are very simular, but yes the BMR is very much different in design. I think the BMR looks like they put more thought into theres.

Cant wait to get it in! Hopefully the The January time frame will be a realistic one and not get pushed back again.

Kat, So is the Hawks and Long awaited Spohn unit one in the same or is Steve going to be making two completely differnt K-Members?

Did you expect anything differant lol For all we know its never coming out lol. I would have liked to see a pic of price range so far.

If this piece comes out and looks bad and the price is high, I am going to kick somebodys a$$.

i'm sure it wont though.

man spohn has got to be under some pressure. He probably has close to 50 customers and 500 people watching the development of this thing. I think it's that pressure of making sure it's not a crappy part that's keeping him held up. I would be pissed too if i had to wait close to three months but i would be sure happy if came out awesome. my .02

i would still be ecstatic when it showed up. Like a kid who had been good for 6 months waiting for x-mas. At least they knew X-mas wasn't moving though. I understand everyone's frustraton. I really can't talk though since i haven't been waiting. I did wait 3 months for my hood though. They said 2 weeks.

Others have been waiting for years for his k-member to be released. All we hear is it's coming soon or should be ready next month! I'd be very surprised if it was released within the next 6 months.

Cant remember who I talked to at Hawks but it had something to do with something being changed on the K-member. I guess Steve sent them one to try out and it needed to be modified somewhere so that is the delay now. It should only be a matter of weeks before they are ready............jt(I hope)

i just got this email from spohn:

"They’re done, we’re waiting for our first run of parts to come back from laser cutting so we can start building them."

I don't know how long it takes, but it shouldn't be that much longer. It looks like the final design has been approved and they should be out soon.

Is this 3 week wait for the regular K members as well as the ones designed for the LS1's?

I'm in the same boat, this is the last thing I need and would love to be able to have this completed before spring time comes around.

i'm pretty sure, i think the only difference in the two would just be the mounts.

I don't know how long it takes, but it shouldn't be that much longer. It looks like the final design has been approved and they should be out soon.

Dont know about excited but irritated may describe it better. If i was just waiting for the K-member to be built so that i could order one then maybe excited would be the word i would use. I actually ordered an LS1 K member through Hawks the 1st of November and am still waiting so i will stick with irritated. Granted I have not been charged for it, it was still ordered and was only suppose to take a few weeks to ship. Not to mention it doesnt help that not once has Hawks contacted me to say there was a delay and it will be 4 months before we can ship...........jt
