Steering box adjustment?

I just finished replacing all tie rod ends, center link, idler arm, ball joints and control arm bushings on my 87 IROC. Took it into the alignment shop and was informed that the steering box has some "play" in it. They didnt offer to try and adjust it. Is that possible or am I faced with purchasing a rebuilt unit?

There's an adjustment on all steering boxes to adjust the backlash. It's a common thing to do.

After reading the responses and the posted links, seems that some folks favor steering box replacement vs adjustment. I had hoped to simply eliminate the lash and be okay to go but, doing so might have only bought some time before the inevitable part replacement. Thanks everyone for the input and helpfull links.

No, you just have to adjust it the correct way. http://www.monte-list.nu/tech/boxmesh.shtml
