What size tires are you running on a 18X8 wheel?
Going to be getting new rims soon so I was wondering what my choices where for tires sizes.

Are these for the front? I'd run a 245/40/18.

do a search and you can find alot on this..

Here is a picture of 18x8 w/ 4.5" backspacing and 245/40/18 tire on my Z28. Those are not the only backspacing specs you can use, thats just what I used. In this picture the fronts had Sportline springs so this is what it would probably look like on your car. I had no rubbing problems, even at full lock. A 245/45/18 would fit but it would be a little taller than the OEM tire, not sure if it would rub or not.

yea your tire is about 25.7, so its stock size....a 245/45 is 26.7, exactly an inch taller. So it would only be a half inch tucked up more in the fender...I have sportlines too...

that black droptop iroc convertible with 18's on the board (Mr. Irocz maybe?) has 255/40's i think, i know they are 27" all around, and he's slammed and no rubbing issues...

I'm hopin i'll be alright with 245/45's..

Tallest I've tried on the fronts with Sportlines was a 26" tall tire (255/45/17) and there were no rubbing issues. But I haven't tried anything taller than 26" so I'm not sure, sorry man.

Thanks to all who replyed. I haven't lowered my car so I was looking for a tire that would fill up the wheel wells. I guess I will go with a 255/40 and see what happens.

Why not, its a street car its all good.. my buddy has an 04 cobra with 18s, running 11's @ 120mph, another friend has an LS1 firehawk with a procharger on stock 17s running 11's at 130mph.. Granted u put some 15" drag rims on there u will start to see some ET shine thru but 18s in the 1/4 ain't no thang

he meant 18 seconds in the quarter mile...well atleast thats what i was referring to..

i have nothin against running 18" rims when you race, i'm gonna be doing it myself..

but i believe the original post from cadillac referred to thirdgens running 18 second quarter miles....
I thought this thread was about quarter mile times.

Car: projects.......
I'd say 18 sec E.T. is what he meant...
- nothing wrong w/ larger wheels and drag racing...I cut 1.6X 60fts on 17" nittos, bfg's hook harder than they do, and hopefully Mickey will release a 315/35 DR....
