strut question

after i bought my car i was looking under the hood and i noticed that it looks like someone has moved the struts back a few inches because you can see where they use to be.
is there some reason for this? maybe its not a big deal, i dont know?

The car probably recently had its front end aligned. I would at least look it over, to see if anything is out of align. (evidence of an accident), just to make sure it is safe.

A few inches? How could that be? Your'e talking about looking at the strut tower covers on top of the fender wells, right?

They do move if you loosen the three hold down bolts. And they could be moved during a wheel alignment, but not nearly that much... more like +- 1/4 inch. The entire length of the position adjustment slot is about 1 inch.
