Solid engine mount Q?

Axle/Gears: Forged axles, 3.23 rear
Solid engine mount Q?
Would a pair of solid engine mounts suited to a SBC (generic) be suitable for use on a thirdgen? Or are thirdgen mounts specificly different in some way?

When I originally got rid of the factory clamshell rubber mounts and installed solid mounts, I used the ones designed for thid gens from Moroso.
The upper part #62510 is used on many different engines including big and small blocks in many different vehicles over different years.
Out of the 6 different lower mounts available, third gens need to use #62610 lower mounts
Using both these mounts keeps the engine in the stock location. Technically you could use whatever solid mounts you want. Mixing and matching parts will change where the engine sits.
I currently use a front motor plate and the engine has been set back about an inch and sits a few inches lower than stock.

solid mounts are ment for race cars if you put in solid motor mounts in you should put in a solid trans mount to b/c the vibartion will work its way back and could do some damage on a stock rubber mount

I have had the moroso mounts on my car for about ten years worked great car rides great I also used the rubber trany mount. And the resson I used the rubber mount was because my friend who owned a chassie shop said that the uni bodied cars flex alot and it would help keep me from braking the tranny case.

I had solid motor mounts weld in frame connectors and solid body mounts on my 80z28 and it broke the trans case with the solid trans mount. I switched to a poly mount and never had that problem again.

same here solid motor poly trans. if you do both solid you'll snap the trans somewhere

Keeps the engine from moving around. If the engine moves, energy is being lost that can be put down the driveline. With my front motor plates, my engine becomes part of the chassis. When the engine wants to torque over, it can't and the power is transfered to the chassis. My chassis is set up so that it doesn't even twist when I launch. Both wheels come off the ground equally.
A twisting engine is also hard on other parts like exhaust etc. Even though rubber mounts are good for eliminating vibrations from the car, they allow the engine to move quite a bit. Poly mounts help a lot. Some people will even chain down the left front of the engine to keep it in place.
