Subframe connectors needed?

I am just getting my GTA back onto the road after the motor build and I have been seeing a lot of guys that are saying to put in some sfc's to keep the body straight and help keep the chassis from twisting. How nessecary are they? The car does have t-tops and the motor is now a 383 that should be pushing between 350-400 h.p. and about the same amount of torque. The trans is just a 700R4 with a B&M shift kit. Any input would be great. Thanks Mike

IMO,
with the amount of torque that your 383 will be producing and the higher hp that you have, I would argue that sfc would be a very good additional upgrade. Unless you plan on babying the car all the time - which I am going to assume will not be the case you will prevent the body from twisting overtime - especially since you have the t-roofs....
Moreover, the sfc will tighten up your car, and not only help you put the power to the ground, but also make the car a better handling machine...

SFC's, IMO, are not a mod, but a necessity for any thirdgen car.

Do a and you'll find a ton of opinions. Whatever the brand, go with weld-ins.

Car: a car being parted out
Engine: blown up
Transmission: in peices
I just bought the top down SFC's for the 'verts to install on my 383 t top bird.

Besides a little tweaking (The rear buckets need a little closing), they went in really nice. Just have to get the fuel lines out to the way to finish the welding.

Just to check the stiffness, I was joking around and had the car sitting flat (while in the air) with two jacks at oppisite corners... so yeah they work.

But I got my bird while it was bone stock, no tears in B pillars, straight body and made sure to put these in BEFORE I put that stump puller in.

i bought my Spohn SFCs for my 88 w/ a 2.8 at the time. the paint was starting to crack at the back upper corner of the body where the window is due to twist, and that was just from a 2.8. i would definetly recommend them

...as stated, not a mod, a necessity. As for brand, hit the search key - you'll get more info that way. It all depends on what you like the looks of, and how fat your wallet is....

I had to put some SFC on my car last year. After some research I decided to go with the Hotchkis subframe connectors.

At this point in time I would say I'm very happy with them and they fit the car perfectly.

Just my two cents

SFCs should be everyone's first mod, and have them welded. I personally like Spohn's for fit and design, they tuck up completely out of the way.
