quick tire sizing question

215/60/15 but i want wider w/o messin with my speedo. 255/50's would be right on? what about 275/45? and are these hard to find, or do most major companies make these sizes?

i looked on tirerack.com and they say that the factory tire size was 215/65-15.. not 215/60-15.. its a big difference.. the tire you have is 25.16" tall and the factory tire is 26".. what this means is that you are going slower then you think you are.. at 55, you are really going 53.. some options from tirerack.com are 235/60-15 which is 26.1" tall.. 275/50-15's are 25.83".. those are the closest.. those 2 vary within .5 mph at 55.. everything else is about 1mph or more.. your best bet would be 235's.. tirerack had a load of them so they should be available at your local tire store.. 275's might have to be special ordered because they are not a common size.. 235's will be pretty cheap and 275's are a little more expensive.. also, brand options will be limited on the 275's.. if could, get your hands on a set of 16" rims.. 255/50-16's are a perfect replacement to your factory tires..
