4th Gen Shocks in a 3rd?

I'm just about nearing the end of having all the peices to do a complete suspension and rear end rebuild. But as I'm getting closer, money is running tighter as time slims down to get it all finished. My question is regarding putting 4th Gen Bilstein shocks in my Camaro, will it work? I'm sure i can find some good 4th Gen Shocks alot easier than 3rd gens at the junkyards. I'd buy some Koni's if I had enough but right now that is not an option. Not unless somebody wants to buy my sway bars or drum rear. I have a few more things also but Mainly I'd like to know if swapping the two generation's shocks will work?

I've read that someone put 3rd gen rear Koni's in his 4th gen to save some money since he didn't need the adjustability. Sp you can stick 4th gen rear shocks in your 3rd gen. Don't know about the fronts though, suspension is a bit different.

Rear shocks (and a few other rear parts) are interchangeable. The fronts, however, are not.
