SFC Lesson - learned the hard way...

WARNING:

Thought I'd share a lesson I've learned for all of you who have been thinking of getting SFCs -

SFCs are, without question, definitely one of the best mods you can do, but I'd STRONGLY suggest doing a bit of research before plunking down your cash. I discovered that my Hotchkis SFCs won't play nice (on the passenger side of the car) with my SLP headers/Y-pipe - and as a result, I get to pay extra to make the two work together...

Now the headers are good - and the SFCs are good - but the combination of the two SUCKS.

Now I don't want to discourage anyone from getting subframe connectors, because I REALLY LIKE how the car feels now (definitely more "controlled" or "responsive") - but it would be a really good idea to know how your desired components will work together...

(Apologies if this has been "done to death", but if it has, I haven't seen it...)

A bolt on part. What's that?

All the bolt on parts are designed to work with factory components. You changed your exhaust and blame it on the parts. Nothing is a 100% bolt on. Because of all the different variations of components, some modifications are always required.

Trouble is, you'll never know how well two different parts will work together until you try to install them.

Sorry to hear. I would say that this board uses Spohn's SFCs due to their fit. It doesn't mean that you won't find other brands here, but if you asked for SFCs that work great and are the most compatible with different exhaust, Spohn would win hands down.

You're jumping to conclusions - I am NOT blaming the parts - just trying to let people know that this is a factor that needs to be taken into consideration when making the decision of which parts to buy.

Any interpretation other than that is reading your own judgements into it.

(Above was intended as a response to the 1st reply, wasn't aware that super_kev had replied while I was writing...)

there's a thread or two on here about fitment issues with the Spohn sfc's, especially his vert ones.
as Stephen said, "A bolt on part. What's that?" hell, it's all held together either by bolts or a couple tack welds, so it's all "bolt on" in my book.
