Spacers.

I searched around with no luck, although I know this has been asked thousands of times.

I will be picking up a set of Eagle 077 17" rims here pretty soon.

They were originally for an early 4th gen Camaro, so I know I need some spacers, but how wide?

Is there any disadvantage to running spacers? Anything bad that could happen?

What would happen if I was to put these wheels on without spacers, or can I?

Also, what is a good tire size to run on some 17's? I'm running the stock rear end and transmission, so I have no gearing changes. I have 245/60R15's on the back right now, but the original size I believe is a 215/60R15.

This is my first time getting a set of different rims, anything I need to know will be great.

Edit: Thiis is the rims, and the car that they were on:

You'll have to check the offset on the rims to be sure, but in general I have been told that stock 4th gen rims require 2" spacers in the back and 2 or 2.25 in the front.

The bolt on spacers seem sound, I just bought some....but I am having problems with the rims fitting. I had to get 2.25 spacers and they still dont clear the tierod end. I am going to have to go to 2.5 to get them to work. I have no idea how normal that is. (I posted a question about that in this forum earlier today...)

Yeah, they are the stock 4th gen offset.

So, judging from your experience, should I just go with a 2.5 on the front or what? Where did you get your spacers and about how much were they?

I found mine on line, did a search for wheel spacers. I will look up the name of the place on my other computer and see if I can get it posted soon

Most of the sites say 2.25 up front, so I would not say just get the 2.5...I will let you know how they look when I get them, but I am worred that the tire will be out a little too far...

Should know more at the end of the week.

Cool. I'll look around some on here too, see ifI can get the spacers for a bit cheaper than new. What did you end up paying for yours?
