HOW MUCH HP WITH STOCK ALUM. DRIVESHAFT

I just picked up an aluminum driveshaft from a 1988 Firebird Formula and was wondering how much H.P. they can handle. Also, does anyone know how much savings 7lbs of rotating weight is worth. My old shaft was from a 4th Gen. car with the big heay weight in the front.

Thanks Frank

Factory aluminum driveshafts are very thin and have a cardboard liner. They're not designed for high HP.

I know of very few if any local race cars that use an aluminum driveshaft. Mine is steel 3" x .083" wall.
