Suspension is dying!!

Yesterday I was driving to my boss's house.. car was driving fine.. I get to the boss's house and as im leaving I notice a weird feeling in my steering wheel and a weird grinding noise coming from my front end. As I was driving it kept getting worse and worse. It finally got to the point where its going KER KLUNK KER KLUNK KER KLUNK. I get to my shop and I jack my car up, my wheels move side to side a little bit *both of them*. Also, I dont know what it is.. but its a vertical rod with two rubber "gromet" things attached to each end of it, it has a lot of play in it. I know absolutley NOTHING about suspensions.. im totally clueless as to what to do..

When I hit my brakes, my steering wheel kicks to the left a little bit and the noise goes away untill there isnt enough pressure being applied at the brakes. If I make a left turn it is a lot less severe. If I make a right turn it feels like my car is going to break into a million pieces.

Is my car driveable for the time being? Or is this one of those "fix this now or youre probably dead" kind of things.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Sounds like it might be your front swaybar endlinks.

The part you are describing sounds like an endlink. They can make alot of noise if they are broke or loose.

Thank you though.

I've done that before in a different car. Something you'll only do once.
