Noob Question: How important is a good Suspension system?!

My cousin just bought a 87 GTA, and it has the nice 350, and all performance suspension.

What does a good suspension do over a stock one?

I have my camaro, and All I think about is more HP, but maybe a good suspension system is the way to go... are there any good/cheap/must have upgrades I should have?

-Thanks

More power means nothing if you can't put it to the ground.

These car's don't hook well with stock power-plants. Anything hi-po is mute without some traction mods. Especially since these cars are unibody and flex A LOT. Too many of them have the roof cracked from stock power plants alone.....

Better lower control arms and
lower control arm relocation brackets.

Yea, I think everyone on these boards can agree that SFC's should be first and foremost.

Now, this question is asked about weekly, so dig through some old posts, you'll find more pictures, explanations why, pricing, part #'s etc etc, more so then you'd hope to get in replies

I did slightly better than stock parts, moog 5664 springs, cc635 in rear, KYB gas a just rear shocks, GR2's in front, poly bushings everywhere, and boxed LCA and panhard. With a SFC's, this thing is like its on rails. It's night and day compared to a stock 3rd gen, makes this thing feel like a race car. Closest i've ever been, at least
This cost me ~$1000, and that's replacing basically everything. You can go cheaper in the good 'ol US of A, but even slightly better than stock (like what i've done), is going to feel INCREDIBLE, especially if you're comparing it to 20yr old V6 suspension. Yours isn't that hurtin', so i'd say you should go even better, like the Konis, things like that.
