hi i have a 92 firebird and want to have a slanted look. does anyone no if their would be any problems puting lowering springs only in the front and keeping the stock height of the rear springs in the back or higher if they make them?(LMK if u know of a company that makes higher springs?)
-also my struts and shocks are shot anyway so do i need adjustable struts if im going to use lower springs in the front?
and please no crap about using the search feature!(that works horribly anyway)

i lowered the front only with a set of used springs i swapped with someone else looking for stock springs. works well, looks good. dont need to replace shocks/struts but if you're already in there, may as well lol.

If you don't have ground effects have at it.
If you do have ground effects I wouldn't do it. Your front air dam would be hitting the ground all the time.
just my
Maybe just go old school with air shocks in the back and leave the front end alone.

No, you don't lower the front, it's borderline too low already.
You raise the rear. New springs all around are a good idea, but taller tires in the back are the main thing to get. 275/60/R15, yes they fit fine.
I posted pictures of mine, and MWnova66 posted pictures of his, but you'll have to.... gasp, search, to find the pictures.

yea just grab some air shocks for the rear. i think i got mine at autozone for around $70
has any one else tried the air shocks? how do airshocks work? are they higher than normal shock or can u adjust them higher?

Air shocks mount in the stock location. You then run a air line from the shock to someplace you can get to. We used to run the lines behind the licease plate back when they folded down.
Then just apply air, the more air you put in the shock the more height you will have.

Stay away from air shocks!!! Air shocks will hurt the handling, weight transfer and traction of car..
Air bags (drag bags) in the rear springs would work better.
Really you just need the taller rear tires to get that raked look.
My camaro has that look. I wasnt trying to go after the raked look but with my tires and suspension it ended up that away.
6 cyl front springs, moog replacement v-8 rear springs, adjustable rear shocks, stock worn front struts, drag bags in rear springs, 235/60-15 tires up front and 275/60-15 tires out back..
Here's pics.

my 1986 firebird has the "raked" look you are talking about. moog replacement springs all around. i also cut a coil off of the front (wish i had not).
one thing i would recmend is to double the rear spring spracers. 4th gen spring spacers are twice the thickness, or you can tape two 3rd gen ones together.

my intrax springs give you the raked look. i get compliments on the stance all the time.
so from what i learned heres what i plan to do. if u think its a bad idea let me know.
i plan to put 14x6 crager 330's in the front and 16x9+ crager 330's in the rear.
i want to put lowering springs in the front(ezliving4ume says only if u dont have ground effects but i plan to get them, so can anyone else confirm i'll bottom out with lowering springs and ground effects remember im getting the 91-92 ground effects)
- normal(or higher) springs in the rear.
-normal height struts in the front
-adjustable shocks in the rear
note: i already have the 2 14x6's, my suspension is shot so i need new springs, shocks and struts(front) in the front and rear and all new suspension components are going to be for a v8 because im dropping in a 96 lt1 motor.
qusestion: i think my 92 bird have struts in the front, shocks in the rear and springs in front and back correct me if im wrong.
-thanx for pics nightrider327

I wouldn't use 14x6's, and 16x9's in the back. Little weird combo there.
If you have them, I guess.
Yep, shocks in rear, struts in front, coil springs all around.
No, don't use higher springs in the back, normal ones.
I don't think you'll need adjustable shocks in the rear, price 'em out and see if thats what you want.
Yea, i'd avoid the lowering springs and short tires in the front. You'll hate having to drive around like a little old lady just so you don't bottom out everywhere. It's lame. Give yourself some clearance so you can drive the bird like you stole it - like it's meant to be driven.
Look into tire sizes for a 16x9, and the pricing. They don't have as good of a selection as on a 15" wheel, and they're more $$. I'd use 15's. Something to think about.
