WHEEL WEIGHTS AND BALANCING
IF I'M IN THE WRONG PLACE; SORRY. AFTER REVIEWING ALL THE THREADS THIS SEEMED TO BE THE ONLY CLOSE THREAD.
1987 TRANS-AM. STOCK WHEELS WHICH I BELIEVE ARE 16" RIMS. BLACK WIRE PATTERN.
THE WHEEL WEIGHTS USED TO BALANCE THE TIRES, FOR MY CAR, HAVE TO BE PUT ON THE OUTSIDE PART OF THE RIM.
THE PREVIOUS WEIGHTS WERE PUT ON THE INSIDE OF THE RIM AND WE'RE DESTROYED ON THE FRONT RIMS DUE TO HITTING SOME GUIDE.

Your wheel bearings probably have some slop to them and are allowing your tierods to hit the inside wheel weights. Put a jack under the control arm and jack up the car, then grab the tire at the top and bottom and wiggle to see how much play you have.
Stock, the wheel weights are pretty close, but shouldn't hit, if you have replaced your tie rods with aftermarket ones they might be slightly bigger and pose a rubbing issue, just grind the offending portion and more on.
