Don't know if a 96 or 97 IROC wheel will fit... I'm not even sure what kind of car was licensing the IROC name at that time, if any.... Chevy terminated their contract with IROC effective 1/1/90.

If you're talking about 96 or 97 Camaro, then yes you would have to use spacers to use those wheels on your 82. They have a different offset. The spacers would need to be about 1¾"

Your 82 didn't have spacers. Unless it got those little ¼" or whatever ones, that were on there only to make the rear the right width for the auto assembly eqpt to work right on them.

Any wheels that are correct for any 82-92 Camaro will fit your car without spacers.

As said, YOU don't need the spacers; AFAIK all that they were there for was to make the disc rears and the drum rears EXACTLY the same width, so that the production line equipment would fit them both EXACTLY. That being an important feature of mass production... for automated assembly to work the best, all the component parts have to be EXACTLY the same, if you want to get EXACTLY the same result on every finished product coming off the end of the line. But there's no "requirement" that they be there, as far as wheel fitment or any of that.

If your wheels are aftermarket, then the whole deal gets even murkier; who knows how nearly EXACTLY some aftermarket wheel matches factory dimensions?

Use them ifi you want, leave them off if you want; as long as it all fits, it makes no difference either way.

If you are referring to the .187 thick spacers on the rear, you can use or disregard them. No big deal.

The thin factory spacer is used if you're running iron brake drums . It makes the wheel sit in the same position as the aluminum drums .
