Koni question
I have a chance to purchase some koni specialD adjustable shocks and struts. they are new in the box but have been sitting in a speedshop for a while. the owner is a cool sh$t and will give them to me for $100. I checked them out they look good but dont seem to rebound like a normal sh/str. They have pressure pushing down and pulling up but when compressed they dont come back by themselves. I was figuring they were dead but my buddy says he thinks that is ok seeing they arent the normal gas charged style. What do u guys think? I am building on a budget and if these are good i dont want to pass up on this deal.

Re: Koni question
They don't come back up at all? I just installed Koni Specials on my front end and they were pretty hard to push down and came right back up pretty forcefully when I pulled them out of the box. What you are describing sounds like how my piece of junk factory struts behaved when I pulled them off. I could compress and pull them back out with just a finger and they didn't move at all otherwise.
$100 for 4 new in box Koni Specials? Sounds too good to be true. Rears are $100 each and fronts are $200 each.

Re: Koni question
Exactly my thought. I have seen bad shock/strut and this is how they feel. Like I said, my buddy thought maybe this was normal seeing they are a different style. The only thing throwing me off is they have pressure pushing down and pulling up but they dont come up on their own. The guy who had them bought out another speedshop and they were in that inventory. You can tell they have been sitting around for a while. he just wanted to unload them and me, my father and uncles have been going to him for years. He was hooking me up if they worked. I guess I am going with my original plan of KYB's. The Eibach Sportlines are on their way already. Thanks man. Just looking for other opinions, now I have one.

Re: Koni question
Call Koni and see if they can be repaired for less than what it would cost to buy new ones

Re: Koni question
They may have a lifetime warranty which could be good considering they look brand new. I'm sure they're going to ask you where you bought them from and then want to see receipts though.

Did you let the shocks and struts sit in the upright position for a while before you tested their damper resistance? If not, the oil was not properly contained into the valving area if they had been laying on their sides.
Best way to describe this is like taking a clear bottle of shampoo that was sitting on its side 1/8th full and then you stand it back up. It will take about 10 mins for all of the shampoo to flow off the side of the bottle and settle back into the bottom. the shock oil acts alot like this- best comparison I can give for explaination.
