Re: air ride tech.

several of us have it.

my 91 z28 hardtop has a custom setup built specially from air ride directly. it has 1/2" braided line with the big red valves and ride pro-e remote. i've had it on the car for some time now and although it's very expensive because it's a one-off unit it has been worth it.

i loved the above setup so much i am picking up a standard kit for my new 91 t-top project car. i just bought the standard coolride kit which is essentially standard bags up front and the 4thgen rear coolride kit. with this system i will only run the standard 1/4" line with their regular ride pro valves and analog guages. no need for fancy pieces on this car.

if i can find a 91-92 vert to build it will get a kit too...

click the links in my signature to see the 91 hardtop done or you can find it on air ride technologies website for their customer cars www.ridetech.com

if you want to save money you can buy cheaper valves, line and guages from your local semi truck supplier. the biggest difference is the quality. air ride is a bit expensive but you get what you pay for and their customer services is excellent.

the only thing you need to really focus on is if you want a good ride make sure you have a 4 way system meaning two valves for every corner of your car or 8 vavles total. you need both a fill and release valve for each corner. this keeps air from transfering throughout the corners so your car won't have that cadillac float to it.

if you want an easy to control system don't worry about speed, 1/4" lines are industry standard with kits and valves. these are fast enough for adjustment and not only are they cheaper but they are easy to adjust.

i'm currently running a viar 450 pump. i would recommend this pump or higher. it's almost 3 years old now so they have faster pumps out. i can get the car up and down twice with my 3 gallon tank until it refils. i will be upsizing to a 5 gallon tank and larger pump though soon for all the cars.

oh and before i forget. where you mount the valves isn't that important but the closer to the bag the faster obviously and if you are going to mount them outside of the car (mine are inside) you'll want to make sure they are weather proof.

good luck!

Re: air ride tech.

everyones different. i like mine but it's a show car.. for a daily driver that is really driven every day i'd stick to hard mechanical pieces. easier to work on but if it's a toy go for it.. it's alot of fun and a great setup.
