Aftermarket Shocks/Struts

I know Koni Yellows are the best. I'm worried about the ride being way to stiff though. In terms of handling, what's second best, Tokcio Illuminas or Bilstiens?

Thanks!
Bill

Considered Koni Reds? They are for comfort where as Yellows are performance.

Re: Aftermarket Shocks/Struts

since the koni's are adjustable i assume you could put them on the softest setting and that may be satisfactory, does anyone know?

Re: Aftermarket Shocks/Struts

I had Koni yellows in my 91 cavalier. On the softest setting they were nice. Not harsh at all. I'm putting Koni yellows in my Z28 this weekend if it doesnt rain, so I'll keep you posted.

Our cars stiff ride comes from the springs. If you are worried about a harsh ride put RS springs in or something.

I running bilsteins on a Z28 with stock springs. The ride is just barely stiffer than stock, but handling is noticeably improved.

Re: Aftermarket Shocks/Struts

I'm running Koni Reds all around on their max setting with new stock ride height IROC springs on my F41 daily driver. The ride is decent (its still a rattletrap thirdgen) and I can corner better than anybody I know. Unless you're a handling ***** (in which case you would just buy the yellows) I dont see how you could be dissapointed with them. Its better than stock I'm sure.

Re: Aftermarket Shocks/Struts

you know they are the best but you've never used them... where's my scratch head smiley?

i like bilsteins after using them all but everyone's different. my hardtop has qa1 front struts and kioni yellow rears with air ride bags. my t-top has bilsteins. i've had every strut out there and my personal opinion i'll always buy bilstein when i can but it's an opinion.. second would be koni and third monroe i guess as it's a decent factory replacement til one can save for the batter.

Re: Aftermarket Shocks/Struts

Kandied, do you feel the konis give you better handling but are way too harsh? Is it just the ride quality of the bilstiens or the handling?

Thanks!
