New Rear Needed Go Torque Arm or Ladder Bar
Ok the big block swap is gettin ready to start and there is no way the stock rear end is going to hold up and i have the 12 bolt that is in the truck that im pulling the engine out of and i would like to use it under my car I relize that it needs to be narrowed have someone to help me on that and already checked into custom length axles but what im not sure of is what suspension to go with.
My first question is can my torque arm be used on on the 12 bolt?
I know that i can transfer all the other brackets but im not sure about the torque arm
And if i cant use the torque arm my next step i guess would be ladder bars i would rather not do this but i can if i have to i would like this car to be mildly streetable and i dont have a ton of money to throw arround

you're better off buying a 12 bolt housing and axles made to fit these cars or a 9" rear end. Fabbing a torque arm setup is not going to be worth the time and money invested plus buying custom axles and having the housing narrowed.

Re: New Rear Needed Go Torque Arm or Ladder Bar
When I install a 9" in my car, I installed ladder bars to eliminate the torque arm. The bad part is that the diff sits high in the chassis so the front ladder bar mounts are actually inside the car. I fabricated boxes on the floor to cover the front ladder bar mounts. It didn't matter for a race car.
A truck 12 bolt is not the same as a car 12 bolt. The pinion is different. The best and cheapest swap you can do is to buy a bolt in housing with axles in either a 12 bolt or 9". By the time you're doing modifying and fabricating a junkyard diff and modifying suspension to make it work, buying an aftermarket diff will be cheaper.
The moser link for the 12 bolt is just under $1000 and doesn't include axles. A 9" housing package is about the same price and does include axles.
