Cutting Rear ProKit?

The back of my car sits about 1/2" higher then id like, almost a non-existant drop compared to stock z28 springs. Front is fine. Anyone have any experiance cutting the eibachs? Would you guys suggest ordering 2 different springs?

Thinking of trying to cut a 1/4" coil and see what it does...

Re: Cutting Rear ProKit?

take out the rear spacer and tape a peice of radatior tube to it...it will drop it half an inch. i wouldnt cut the prokit bc the rears are progressive and u will screw that all up. get some moogs and trim them if u really want, but def do the isolator removal, u dont want to much drop or u'll lose the rake look. my rears didnt drop that much with the sportlines from the stock WS6 springs and i would drop it without the isolatiors but i need the clearance.

Re: Cutting Rear ProKit?

insulator has been out for a long time replaced with a rubber hose, maybe when i had the rear out this past weekend i didnt index the springs correctly on assembly. Which way should the bottom coil be facing?

Thing is i have no weight over my rear so my rake is more noticeable. No spare, No carpet pading, No rear bumper.

Re: Cutting Rear ProKit?

i think the rear spring is suppose to face....um lol. i have no idea i just set it up where the rear end was down and the springs fit flush, i think the passenger side has the part# printed on the spring facing out and the driver side facing the same way but pointing in.... the progressive spring wont lower as much if u cut it and is basicaly pointless as blyth18md stated, u also mess with the spring rate and will do more harm than good, u want lower stance...look for a 2" rear drop springs. and try them out

Re: Cutting Rear ProKit?

If you are going to cut them cut small amounts first. 1/4 coil both side and try it. unfortunately eibach springs are similar to the stock ones where you must use a rubber isolater? dont they sit strange without the isolater? my solution was to run a mustang specific 1" lowering eibach spring because the spring is flat top and bottom so no isolaters does not cause the spring to sit strange. indexing the rear springs (rear only) has little effect on ride height. cutting one side thats higher to lower that one side has little effect on ride height also. (ask me how i know) they must be cut the same amount. my front spring have been cut and i have had great luck with them. 26 1/4" fronts fender to ground.
27 1/4" rears fender to ground. no interior carpet or in trunk no spare ect.. ect......

The rears don't require indexing.
