Suspension upgrade
Firebird buff,
Yea I currently have 1991 Firebird with a 305. I want to upgrade the shocks, struts, springs, and bushings. What would you guys recommend for these parts. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Matt

Re: Suspension upgrade
depends on ur budget, im running KYB GR2 struts up front and KYB gas-a-justs in the rear. soo much better than the stock stuff....most will say blisten or koni but i dont have the $ for 600-800$ struts/shocks, also running Eibatch sportlines and i love them...could do prokit or just get moog replacements. replaced every bushing with high performance poly from energy suspension and made a huge diff, also made custom thru floor subframes, handmade tubular LCA's, UMI adjustable panhard rod, UMI LCA relocation brackets, TDS wonder bar etc...all in my sig.
just match them with price and performance.

Re: Suspension upgrade
I forgot to mention I have the Ronal R15 17" X 9.5". Is there a significant difference between KYB and Koni ? I have roughly a $1500 budget. Energy has a "master kit" for roughly $110. KYB GR-2 are roughly $213 for the entire set opposed to the KYB AGX set being $539. A set of Koni "Red" shocks runs about $588. Thanks a lot for your input.

Re: Suspension upgrade
wow ur paying out ur arss for those shocks, go to summit. 150$ for GR2's etc, KONI is basically ur stop of the line....secifically the koni yellows, the reds arent as performance but are cheaper, blistens or konis will run u alot like 600-700$ for 4 but are considered the best before going coil over, KYB are ok for the $ that they cost u cant really beat the performance they offer just depends on ur budget and how ur gona drive your car. the master kit is ok if ur gona do it all at once but it doenst come with everything, u will need to buy certain things like sway bar endlinks etc that dont come with the kit alos the front control arm bushings u will need to remove them to have them pressed out and the poly pressed in... i dont like the kits bc normally when u buy aftermarket suspension like LCA's panhard rod, torque arm and sway bars u get the bushings with them. ur best bet is to buy wat u want to get done now. dont put poly in the rear bc ur gona have to upgrade everything already and they come with poly...also need to figure out wat size sway bars etc u alread have on the car and what the car will be made for...daily driver, strip, auto cross, spirited daily driver... i went wit GR2s up front and gas-a-just in the rear and cost me 180$ total from summitracing.com...
LCA's=tubular global west 80$ summit
panhard rod= 100$ 110$ adjustable summit
shocks=KYB gr2s all 4 corners 140$, 180$ for gas-a just rears summit
springs=eibatch sportlines/prokit 230$ summit
wonderbar= 60$ TDS or BMR
strut tower brace=160$ edebrock summit
poly bushings watever u decide to get from summit price ranges. def get the sway bar bushings and endlinks unless ur upgrading. then id go with STtechnologies or w/e.
subframes from summit range alot... bolt ins will cost more but will have to be welded in for strength, weld is are cheaper but depends who u get them from

Re: Suspension upgrade
All poly here plus Moog IROC style springs and Koni Reds. I'm very pleased with the set-up. See below for more suspension details.
