Max tire size without bulging

I bought my firebird with ugly aftermarket rims on it, and huge 275/60/15 tires in the back that stick out past the fender and had slits cut in them from the fender.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1990-...10638492QQrdZ1

^those are stock rims I found on eBay, but what im asking is whats the widest tire I can fit on those 15" rims without them sticking past my fender.

Maybe a 255/60/15?

Yea 255/60 is about right.

huge 275/60/15 tires in the back that stick out past the fender and had slits cut in them from the fender.

Will the 255/60 ones stick out past the fender? I'd hate to buy new tires a ruin them

Re: Max tire size without bulging

They shouldn't, but it'd be close. Just hammer up the fender lip a bit, so that the sharp edge isn't pointing in or down, but up and in.
