Thinking about lowering the Iroc
Just wondering if someone could suggest a good but not overly expensive set of springs. Also, for now I`m running a set of monroe-sensatracs all the way around.I know they`re not the best but the roads around here waer shocks out fast and I needed to replace the stock billstiens bad. They have less than 7000 miles on them so I`m planning on keeping them for now.My real question is,are you supposed to put a set of "lowering shocks"on a car when you lower it.I know nothing about lowering a car so thanks for any input.BTW I`m thinking about a 1'' or so drop. What are the pro`s and cons of doing this other than looks and maybe a little better handeling.Thanks. Did a search and I`m now confused even more

Re: Thinking about lowering the Iroc
Your stock springs may have sagged enough that you already have a 1" drop. Many members drop their cars for cosmetics and/or handling, but I've personally never been tempted--too much trouble with speed bumps, snow, cats, you name it. I can barely get a jack under the K member as it is. The problems that lowering springs cause, for me personally, seem to outweigh any perceived benefits

Yeah after searching I see no real reason to do it.Not enough benifit and too much potential for something bad. Thanks
Re: Thinking about lowering the Iroc
you aren't going to be able to handle near a car with the center of gravity dropped 3" lower than you. Lowering has major benefits- you just have to do it correctly keeping the front roll center from going onto or even under ground and have to up the spring rates accordingly. soft suspension lowered cars and speed bumps do not mix beause you litearally have to crawl over them as not to compress the chassis onto them. A stiffer suspension will hold the lowered vehicle more at bay and not drop much lower in compression.

Re: Thinking about lowering the Iroc
well I`m not auto crossing so its not that big a deal.It was going to be mostly for looks but I`ll be doing some drag raceing to which lowering has no real benifit that I`m aware of.I think I`m just going to replace the stock springs with the best oe type stuff I gan get.Like I said I`m just thinking about it.I would like to get this car looking showroom new so lowering is just a thought.Saw it on a few cars and thinks it looks pretty good if done right just dont want to spend the money and it not be right.Got too much other stuff to spend money on this car right now like paint, suspension and trans. Thanks for your replys anyhow.
