Is Torque Arm Bent? (pics)

Well, while driving I started hearing some clunking from near the trans tail shaft (T5), looked and the torque arm had ripped out of the stock bushings. I bought a poly bushing and I was installing it today and in order for it to fit into the clam shell, the torque arm only goes about 1/2 way at most into the bushing. This doesn't seem right at all to me, so I took off the torque arm and took some pics, is it supposed to be perfectly straight stock? If so, can I pound it back straight or will this kill the arm's integrity?

the torque arm usually is straight.. so yours would be slightly bent.. not a bad time to upgrade..

Thanks for the reply, I'm going to try to pound it back into shape, if it still won't work then I'll bite the bullet and go aftermarket. Right now, I had to order a new inner bracket because the attached bolt broke loose and spins freely, as well as the entire bracket being bent up.

Re: Is Torque Arm Bent? (pics)

definitely looks bent. New bushing and bracket for an arm that's bent? Even if you beat it back it has already lost its structural integrity. I wouldn't spend any money trying to fix a factory arm.

Yeah, you're probably right, I need the new bracket anyways though, so now I'm looking into just buying another stock arm. Are the automatic arms the same as the manual trans arms? As long as the lips are facing the same direction I figure they're the same part

all the tourqe arms are the same exept that some have the lips facing out rather than in. IE this http://www.spohn.net/productimages/7-1609_big.JPG Or this http://www.spohn.net/productimages/7-1611_big.JPG

Thanks for the info, I was pretty sure they were the same, but wanted to make sure. I'll be getting one soon
