Broken spring and lowering by coil cutting suggestions please.
I took apart my front suspension yesterday and got both springs out. The driver side spring was broken a half a coil around on the bottom. I didn't notice any problem I guess because the broken end was still sitting on the mount in its normal position. My question is, should I replace the spring because it is going to fail further up the spring later, or is it okay to use because
I'm also looking to lower the car about 2 inches. I wanted to know how much to cut off. I was going to try a half coil (ironically, I guess I'd only half to cut one of them now) but I don't want to have to do it twice and was just looking for a suggestion.
Thanks

I think the fact that the spring was broken is a sign of fatigue. The spring will probably break again. So I would say use them to practice cutting good, and buy a new set to cut to run in the car (if thats how you want to do it).

Half coil up front, 3/4 in the rear worked good, and I autocrossed this car, with no ill effects.

If you are going to trim the spring, you should know that you trim from the TOP!! Not the bottom. I trimmed my rears with no problems at all.
