Tie rods rubbing wheels.
My Tie rods still rub my wheels a little bit in spots as I turn the wheels (not the steering wheel). car isnt running yet, so this problem can take its time but needs to be done of coarse before it can move. Can I flip the tie rods over to make clearance or is our spindles beveled? should I just grind the corner of the rod a little bit? What is the best coarse of action here? Thanks. and yes these are the 17x9.5 with 2" spacer.

Re: Tie rods rubbing wheels.
We need to know the offset of the wheel to tell you if you will be able to grind enough clearance or if it's a lost cause.
Some 4th gen wheels have a higher offset that require 2.25" spacers. Some aftermarket tire rods are bit beefier and need a quick pass or two with a grinder to clear.

You need 2 1/4" spacers

They are tapered, and this won't really get you any more clearance. What's your offset?

I'd suggest, if it is on BARELY rubbing, take a grinder to the tie rods.
Replacement tie rod ends, tend to be thinker and "beefier" than the OEM tie rod ends.

I don't believe any of the vette rims would come with a +36mm backspacing, most likely it is +56mm offset, like mine. If I were you, I would do it right and get 2 1/4" spacers. Most places will let you exchange spacer as long as you haven't driven on em. If you bought them used, sell them and buy the correct ones.

Re: Tie rods rubbing wheels.
The factory 17x9.5 wheels from my '99 SS have 50mm offset. Aftermarket 17x9.5s that I purchased have 54mm offset. The factory wheels (50mm offset) do NOT rub the tie rods with 2.0" adapters up front (if you have factory brakes),,, however, the wheels with 54mm offset, are very close, so I run an 1/8" spacers if using the 54mm offset wheels on the front.
If you have the 1LE front brake package (like me), then use a 1.75" adapter with an 1/8" spacer,,, with 54mm offset wheels.
With the factory 50mm offset wheels, no 1/8" spacer is required.

krisb410,,, you did not read my post correctly (I responded to his issue in the first part of my post)... He also needs to find out the offset, its molded into the wheels on the back side. The part concerning the 1LE brakes, was obviously for those with 1LE brakes like me.
