I need to know about my sway bars

I have a 1987 IROC-Z with front and rear stock sway bars. I was just wondering what size they are and if they are hollow or solid.

Anyone know?

Looking is the only way of truly knowing. The hollow 36 mm, solid 24 sways didn't come along until 89 in the Camaro, so you "probably" have the 34 (could be hollow. Look for a drain hole near the end link), solid 24 combo.

ok, I looked and I have a solid 24 rear and hollow 34 front.

How much weight do you think I would gain if I would change the front to a solid 1 3/8" and would I be able to notice a differance?

In the general scheme of things, the weight would be insignificant. I doubt that you'd be aware of the difference.

Re: I need to know about my sway bars

I have the same size. Stock had 1 more size bigger 36/25 but not much of a substansial gain IMO. I did Eibach springs, poly bushings and endlinks on the bars, poly LCA bushings up front at the same time and that is where I noticed a much improved 'rail-like' steering. Added a GWest wonder bar, already had Lakewood rear LCAs and Panhard. I also had the rear bar bushings and links done. All in all I love it. Thought about getting the 36 front..have access to one, but decided Im good =) I also did new steering linkages (all) and lower ball joints. Better than new IMO
