center link / idler arm adjustment
Can anyone tell me how to check the height on the idler arm? I replaced all the front end stuff and I can't find the paper that came with the center link about how to check that it's correct. It's something to do with a straight edge going over the flat ground on it.. and measuring the distance somewhere. I glanced at it quick, but I may have thrown it out.
It's going in for an alignment but I'd like to get the car close as I can so I can drive it to the shop.

All I ever done was to make sure that it was level. Thats about all you really have to do with the center link / idler arm.

The idler arm needs to be adjusted so that it is at the same height, relative to the frame, as the pitman arm. You can measure each from a common reference point, or, if the front of the car is on level ground, adjust the idler arm so that the center link is also level.

I looked it up in the service manual... kinda forgot that it would be in there
I figured it needed to be level... and when I put it in where the old one was it looked off so I eyeballed it.. I'll measure how the service manual says, which is to put a socket on the ARM bolt head then use a "special tool" which looks like a slide square to me and measure off the flats.
