Is it hard to install a tubular k member???
How hard is it to install a tubular K member? I bought one and want to install it but want to know how long it takes to do. I will do it at work on the lift but dont know what I am in for.
Any suggestions? Any tricks to make it easier?
Thanks

As with most repairs, getting stuff out of the way will take the most time.
Ever remove an engine before?
Front end work?
It's very involved.

I just removed mine last night and it was out in 1 hour. I even left the headers in the car. Just make sure you have something to support the engine while the k member is out. If you have done any front end work in your life you should be able to accomplish this. if you have any questions feel free to pm me.

Thanks a lot. I will do it on friday night. I have done k-members on chryslers that people bend up in accidents. I work at a jeep chrysler dealer, so it will be easy with all the shop equipment. I just dont see how people can do them in there driveway. Now thats tough.
I will take pics of the install.

if you work at a shop then you might have access to an engine lift that is made to do this sort of job. We have 2 at our shop basically it bolts to the strut towers and hooks to the engine like a cherry picker. You may want to ask if you have one cuz it could make this a lot easier. They're typically used for jobs involving FWD cars when you have to drop the subframe for something.

Thats a good idea. We do have a special bar which bolts to both towers and holds the engine in place. I have done this on the Pacifica's when I have to drop the tranny. I will see if I can use that. The engine does not even move a cm when we use it. I never thought of it. Thanks. I will take pics and post soon.
