Alignment Question
I recently alligned my car.
Squared the steering linkage, leveled the car set to zero toe. Front and rear tires are parrall also.
Car rolls very well and I am very happy witht the alignment.
I am confident that the car is properly alligned.
The turns from center to left and right lock are the same. I have a pointer on the steering shaft and column.
My question is that the length of the adjusted tie rods is not equal after the alignment. Thee is about 1/4 inch difference between the two.
Why is this??
Shouldnt they also be equal?
Are there any differences in spindles between various years?
I am not concerend only courious.

Re: Alignment Question
Hey Cash,
That kind of crap will drive you crazy. Its just tolerances of production parts. A-arm lengths, spindle locks, spindle arm lengths (machining), frame mounts etc... all vary.

ps- the a-arms on my truck for example are 1/4" longer on one side than the other.

Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: Alignment Question

That's why they're adjustable... if there was some "right" length, then they could just make them all that long, and not bother with the adjustment. Every car is a little different though. If nothing else, they've all hit different potholes over th ecourse of their life.
