time to upgrade
I am currently in the process of building up my suspension, and I want to know if I am heading in the right path. I have done my research on this board to give me some kind of direction, but still have questions. A little input on the car is that it is mainly a DD, it might see some track time in the future, there is little over 180k on the odo, and I want it to handle like new car and not like I am off roading.
I already have a UMI sfc that still needs to be installed, and here is what I plan on buying in the near future:
bringing it into an alignment shop to see if anything else needs to be replaced up front
TDS wonder bar
poly urethane bushings
either Spohn or UMI lca’s and panhard bar
Spohn front/rear sway bar
Bilstein HD shocks/struts
Eibach Prokit
My first question is with the lca’s and the panhard bar. Which one is better, brand wise, or is it just personal preference? And do I really need it to be adjustable if it will be mainly for DD, or will I be ok with non-adjustable? My second question is for the rear sway bar. Will the 1” bar be too much for my application, or should I go for the 7/8” bar?
Any other advice or input would be appreciated.
Thank you,
JV

Re: time to upgrade
You should get a selection of GM bars to play around with instead of spending $300+ on a pair of Spohn (or anyone elses) sway bars. They are the cheapest and should be readily available. I have the Spohn 1" rear bar and it's too much. I have 4 GM bars (36/34 front, 19/24 rear) and I have $50 more in the 4 GMs than I do in the 1 Spohn. I'm going to get a 21 and 23 as soon as I get the extra money.
What LCA/PHB ends are you going with? I'm going to reccomend not getting the dual poly end LCAs for handling. Had them, got rid of them for a set of heavy duty rubber/rod end. I have a combo ended Spohn PHB and I like it pretty well.
I can't remember, but does anyone know if the Bilstein HDs valved for lowering springs? If not, I'd get KONIs. Little better dampening and they're adjustable.
Also, I don't know if I can reccomend the Pro-Kit. It's a decent set, but if I had it to do again, I'd either go with the Ground Control Weight Jacks or a set SSS (or the like) springs cut to the rideheight and spring rate of my (in this case, your) choice.
