Suspension help, rear springs

Did the 89 lo3 cars have insert blocks in the rear springs to raise them??? Cause I bought a car and the rear suspension is horrible and i think someone added them in. Should i take them out or leave them in?

Got a picture?

No "insert" blocks..? But there is a spacer at the top of the rear spring, about a 1" tall rubber ring.

yeah like someone took the spring off where it was not compressed, and put a block insert to raise it, looks like something you would see done to a truck or jeep, and then compressed and put back on... just under the middle of the spring

The only thing that is stock is a rubber ring that sits between the TOP of the spring and the body of the car. It raises the car about an inch and is stock for it to be there. Any block or anything on the bottom of the spring is not stock.

you put that between 2 rows of the spring, and the coil sits in one of the grooves and when you compress it and put the spring back on the car sits higher

hm i wonder if i need to take that out, or if they had it there for a reason

Rear springs are very easy to remove, not like fronts.
You can remove them, but i'd guess the rear springs got quite soft, and he was bottoming out, so he put them in, rather than putting in new $80 springs. Or does the car have big rear tires or something?

Can't hurt to try to remove them. Jack up the rear of the car by the pumpkin, as high as you can, put jackstands under the axle tubes, then put something below your jack and jack up the pumpkin again, higher. You've gotta get it REALLY high. Then finally put the jackstands under the rear frame rails. Remove the jack and the rear end will sag.

Jack up the pumpkin a few inches, then remove the 3/8" nuts on the rear sway bar ends, and the bottom nuts holding the shocks onto the rear end. Now start lowering the jack, the rear end should come a lot lower than before. Hopefully you have the car high enough, that you can lower the jack almost to the ground, then you'll notice the rear springs just want to fall out. Now you can remove the blocks, and replace the springs with new ones if you want.

Any parts store will have MOOG CC635's for about $60 or so.

I would get some Moogs and just swap out the springs. I don't see those blocks in the springs being beneficial to handling, lol. Might want to go ahead and do the fronts as well. It's not really that big a deal, especially comapared to the coil-over set-up of Hondas/Integras I've worked on.
