Need a Harness Bar!

I cant find anyone that makes a harness bar for our thirdgens. I dont want a roll cage, just something I can put in for when I autocross so I can get a 4pt harness. Do you know of anyone that makes it, or have made your own and don't mind sharing info on it?

Re: Need a Harness Bar!

no one makes a harness bar, theres no where to bolt it to as the seatbelts are practically on the roof. Allthough its not the safest in a rollover, you could always mount the harnesses to the floor. Otherwise a 4pt rollbar is about your only option. You could make it with quick release pins and remove it when you're not killin cones.

Re: Need a Harness Bar!

Is there a way to mount it where the rear shoulder strap would be if my car had a rear shoulder strap on the seat belt? I've seen people with the rear shoulder belt in their cars so I know it can be done. I mean if that part of teh car is safe enough for the actual seat belt to mount to, why wouldn't it be safe enough for a harness bar?

Ill try and find a pic of the area I'm talking about.

Re: Need a Harness Bar!

2 choices:
use your factory seat belt and skip the harness
put in at a minimum a 4 point bar with hoop.

Re: Need a Harness Bar!

This pic isn't really what I was looking for but that's the mount I was thinking of attaching the bar to.

Re: Need a Harness Bar!

those bolts and brackets were never designed to have a bar put across them and the loading that would occur in an accident with the extra leverage from a bar put on them. think of pulling on a 1/4" ratchet then pulling with a much longer 1/2" ratchet

I only plan on putting it in for autocross and then taking it out. The fastest I can ussually get going is probably 40 mph and then I'm on the brakes right away. I just need it strong enough to hold me in the seat for when I lean forward when I'm on the brakes and such. If that little bolt can hold the shoulder retractor why wouldnt it hold a bar the front shoulder straps would mount to?

Here is a better picture of what I want to do.
bar, seatbelt
