Need motor mount install help
I have an 85 T/A that had a blown up 406 and stock motor mounts. We are putting in a fresh 313 with a set of Prothane bushings. The new mounts were a simple install and are not on the wrong side, upside down, anything like that. I checked and rechecked that all the mounts are how they need to be.
When dropping it in the car, it's like the engine was too wide. The bolt holes were about 1/2" too far to the outside of the mount, which caused problems getting it seated in there. I did a touch of grinding, lubed the bushings, and we can get one bolt in, but the other side is about 1/4" too far out on the front, then the back is completely off and you can only see/feel eurothane back there. We tried driving a big punch through the front to get it lined up with no luck.
Something is simply not right with this car when 4 gearheads are scratching their heads for 4 hours with no outcome. I would post pics, but I left the camera with the car.
So really guys.. WTF??? thanks in advance.

Re: Need motor mount install help
Inserts are correct. We found the problem after a couple more hours of hell last night. The mounts that bolt to the engine were just warped in a way you couldn't tell. I ended up having to elongate one of the holes to work. IN the future I'll just switch to new solid mounts all around but this will get it moving.
THe 313 is a .030 overbore 307 that we had laying around.
