'85 G-body rear springs- diameter?
im thinking about taking this clean 101k 85 cutty supreme to the shredder- sooner than later
anyone happen to know the diameter of the ends of the rear springs on these cars ? 78-87 years
id like to stick them under the back of my 82 TA to stiffen and/or get the back of it off the ground since it is dragging
i cant remember which GM models had the larger coils, and which had the smaller ones

other than that i cant think of anything very useful from this car except maybe the power steering box, front brake parts(i needed good rotors and calipers for the 82 anyways), driveshaft, alternator, fuel in the tank, hmm..
thanks

im not sure what you mean by that exactly
all i can see are the bottom ends of them and they look identical but i haven't been able to get under either car far enough yet to see the upper ends of them so see if they are the same
so far so good, unless the upper ends differ.
was hoping someone knew for sure
thanks

They are pigtailed on both ends, but it doesnt matter they still fit. I use F-body springs in my G-body.

I was under the impression that you can run the f-body springs on the g-body if you use the f-body isolator.
But I'm concerned with how well the pigtailed end would seat in the f-body.
Randy. The lower end of the spring is the same(pigtailed). The top of the f-body spring isn't pigtailed where the g-body spring is.

Being pigtailed means they'll seat on a flat surface, so they will seat just fine on the F-body perches. The trick with F-body springs is that one end is NOT pigtailed so you need a seat that is the proper contour to make sit on a flat perch.
With that said I don't use the proper perch, I just put a length of heater hose on the end of the spring to prevent squeeks and go on about my buisness. The spring stays put and works fine.
The only problem you may run into is that the overall diamter of the G-body spring is larger thean the F-body and may conatact something like the exhaust.
