noob to suspension
noob to suspension
I want my car to launch. I spin the tires all through first and finally grab at second. For an auto car, it moves but there's no grip. I want to know where to start as far as suspension. After sending a couple of private messages, paulisgod said start with a torque arm but all4u said start with subframe connectors. All4u was the one that beat me so I suppose I should listen to him. What do you guys think. I have $500 to drop on suspension was wondering if hawksthirdgen.com would have SFC or TQ arm that would be good. I like spohn and hotchkis but what do you guys think?

Re: noob to suspension
I'd start with SFCs, lower control arms, and lower control arm relocation brackets. Then move on to the torque arm. They help alot, but they are about as much as the LCAs and SFCs. Oh, and tires. All the suspension work in the world isn't worth jack if you have crappy tires.

Spohn is the ****. As 91 said, all the suspension in the world wont help you if you got bad tires.
How about trying some drag radials? M&H makes a damn nice DR, M/T works works well too. I dont like BFG or Nitto, but some people swear by them. Get a pair of 275/60R15's if you want a 28" tall tire or 275/50R15's for a 26" tall.

You might be REAL surprised how much difference good tires make. Avoid "high mileage" type tires; they're made of hard rubber, to last a long time. Most any less expensive tire (Cooper, Kelly, Pep Boys, BF Goodrich street tires, etc.) will be like that.
SFCs should be the absolute first "mod" you do. The next should probably be LCARBs.
Getting decent tires doesn't count as a "mod", any more than an oil change would; it's "maintenance".
Re: noob to suspension
A little more info on your car would be helpful. Z28/iroc or a RS, year , motor, gears, current tires and size would help us make a recommendation.
SBC should always be the first mod. If you are trying to launch hard and don't have SFC's you could/will twist the body of the car.

Re: noob to suspension
From what I head, they are more of an economy tire made to last, not really to perform. It sucks, but you have to pay for performance.
