rack and pinion on stock k member
i have asked it before and had been told a "no" but now i have seen a picture of it and wondered what it takes to put a rack in my 91. i do not want to go to a tubular k member b/c that is a pain in the butt and i can not have my car out of comission that long. anyone do it? maybe a step by step? and i want a power rack setup ( i know i'm picky)

there's a considerable amount of info about rack swaps using the search key. - yes, it's been done using the stock k-member, if you have decent fabrications skills, it's not very dificult. The thing is, it's only been done successfully for drag race only use, as most rack & pinions don't have enough travel to accomidate a full turning radius. - Most will approximately double your turning radius.
All things said, unless you're down to shedding those last few pounds(obviously not when utilizing a stock k-member) and are going to a manual rack, there are no gains to be had. There's just as many wear items to replace. Most racks will develope on-center wear(slack at straight forward) When rebuilt, this can be fixed in a steering box, but it is not something they replace in racks, thus it is often aparent in part-store racks, and most always in jy take-outs.
