C5 Z06 18x12, 17x9.5 rims on ebay

I saw these rims on ebay: rims

They say they'll fit on a c4 with no problems, does this mean they could fit on a thirdgen with the right adapter??

I know with a 12" rim there will be some serious modifications to make them fit and not rub, but what I'm asking is would they most likely stick out of a thirdgen any more than ZR1 rims, since they have corvette offsets??

I've never seen a c5 Z06 rim before that's 12" wide!

thanks!

There is another thread about mini-tubbing a car to get 18x12's to fit, doesn't look too fun. I would go to the Skulte website and e-mail him about the rims. I think they have a different offset than the other rims, but I don't see why you couldn't get them to fit with the right adapter. Maybe someone on here knows more about rims than me though.

im mini tubbing for 18x12's now, its a BIG project, much more than i origionally expected, everything is in the way. Lots of fabbing and custom parts to get them to tuck right.

so I take it there is alot more than just cutting the inner fenderwells out and widening them eh?

I'll check out your thread if I can find it. thanks!

Re: C5 Z06 18x12, 17x9.5 rims on ebay

thats about right, but its easier said than done. You need to cut everything back to about 1.5" off the shock mount bolt behind the back seats. The mount holes for the rear seatbelts get cut out as well. My measurement that i aim for is 9 5/8" from the face of the rotor/drum back. Everything in that area need to go. then after the 1/8" plate is welded in to re-form the inner fender well you end up with 9.5" of clearance from the rotor face back. Which in my case gives me almost .75" of clearance from the new inner fenderwell to the inside of my tire. This also involves using a coil-over set-up of some kind, and relocating the control arms, or making offset ones.

If you want to visualize this more, check out my thread a few lines down "I got my wheels widened" Mini-tub time"

Or grab a straight edge and a tape measure. Lay the straight edge on the rotor face, between the lugs, and measure back 9 5/8" and see where the end of the tape is.
